Basic principles in design.
Each room has its own specificity, but we’ve discussed this topic before in material about Feng-shui style arrangements and choosing the right colors. Due to the role that each room plays, it is necessary to listen to some basic principles in interior design.
Because we are waiting for spring with its explosion of color and the return to life, it perfectly matches the redecorating of your house. There are some basic aspects and principles that we already know:
- The balance between artificial light vs. natural light
- Not too much furniture/decorations
- Create a visual center – how the furniture is arranged
- Several themes/styles can be combined
- Opt for plants in one of the rooms of your home
Today we choose to discuss the principles that set the tone for decorating a home that is also used as a guide by interior designers.
Establish a budget
It is not enough to want certain pieces of furniture or decoration, they must fit in the initial budget and it should correspond to the style that is already chosen. So plan and estimate a budget that includes the items you want to purchase (furniture, paints, textiles, kitchen items, décor).
Color palette
It is said that it is good to choose the colors of the walls only at the end after you have chosen the furniture, textiles and certain pieces of decoration that stand out. Colors affect mood differently, so it is important to choose according to the style in which the home is organized. Make sure you bring a vibrant color palette to your home in combination with cool colors and a minimalist style. At the same time, it is important to choose 3, maximum of 4 colors, and 1 to be found throughout the house to create a balance and a sense of harmony.
Balance and symmetry
A room must be viewed as a whole from which we can see a balance between all the elements. These include colors, dimensions, quantity. For example, a small room should not contain large objects, and a large room should not contain only tiny objects. That is why the balance and symmetry of a room viewed from the entrance, offers that feeling of comfort and ‘home’.
It is good to be guided by certain rules, especially the basic ones, but the practical and comfortable aspect for each individual is important. That’s why we suggest you embark on the adventure of interior design with our principles in mind and what you like, straight ahead!
